Cody Hawkins: A Product of Nepotism or the Real Deal?
Cody Hawkins begins his college quarterback career at the University of Colorado today in the biggest game of CU's season, arch-rival Colorado State University. Sure Nebraska and Oklahoma are big rivals, but the rivalry between the University of Colorado and Colorado State is as heated, and sometimes just as bloody, as the legendary feud between the Hatfields and the McCoys. Losing to CSU is like Alabama losing to Auburn, it is that big of a deal.
So can Cody keep his perfect record as a starting quarterback going, he is 59-0 as a started dating back to youth league, or will he fall flat on his face and suck like my wife thinks he will? There has been mixed reaction to his being named the starter; some say he is only starting because he is "The Hawk's" son and others think he legitimately earned the starting gig. I have never seen him play, but I have read about him and his backup Nick Nelson and their battle for the starting job for weeks now. I believe he has really earned it and so does the rest of the team, which is the most important thing. I was impressed by his poise under the scrutiny of getting the starting job. He seems really down to earth and knows there is a lot of pressure on him to win. He seems to be just arrogant enough to win and not let it go to his head.
My wife thinks he got the job only because he is the coaches son. She believes his inexperience will be his downfall. Here are a few of her quotes about it:

Ohio Who?
Did the Florida Gators play another division I-A team last night or was that my old high school team? The answer is neither. They did not play a division I-A team and my high school team would have made a better game the the Ohio State Suckeyes did. For the record, the Ohio State Suckeyes are a division I-A university and they did play the Florida Gators last night. The number 1 and undefeated Ohio State Suckeyes looked worse than the Northeast Appalachian Treehugging and Nature College.
Less than 100 yards of offense and the only bright spot was a game opening kick-off return for a touchdown which never should have counted considering the Suckeyes committed a pretty obvious hold on the play. After that it was all the Florida Gators. The Gators ran and passed all over the vaunted Ohio State defense and made the Heismann winner, Troy Smith, look like a fox in a fox hunt---scared and running. Countless times the Florida defense got to Smith with a player that came through the sieve o-line of OSU untouched.
Urban Mayer had his team prepared for this game whereas his counterpart thought the season ended when his team escaped their game against Michigan. Florida came to play, Ohio State didn't come at all.

The Weekly "Stupid Fucker" List
The weekly "stupid fucker" list will be moving to Fridays. That being typed, here is the list.
Brady 'crybaby' Quinn--What a loser this fucking guy is. He wins the 'Golden Arm' award (best senior quarterback) and the Maxwell award (best college football player), yet can't beat any team that has won more than like 2 games in the history of the school (except Navy which has won 5 games in its history). How the hell can this guy be the best college player and quarterback if he can't do anything but shit his diaper in a big game. He has good stats the past 2 years (7345 yds, 69TDs, and 14 interceptions), but was completely lousy against any good team. Good luck to whatever NFL team lands this gem of a player. Stupid fucker!
MLB Owners--Money, money, money, mmoonneeyy.....MONEY! The owners are like starving kids in a candy store. Here are the ten worst signings of the hot stove, in no particular order (and not necessarily because the player is bad).
1--Gary Matthews Jr.--5yrs/$50M--$10M a year for an over the hill has been outfielder that hasn't knocked in more than 80 runs in a year and won't last the whole contract
2--Gil Meche--5yrs/$55M--$11M a year for this guy? Who the fuck is Gil Meche and what has he done to be worth $11M a year. He must be a 20-game winner...NOPE. A big strikeout pitcher....Not a chance. A workhorse....Whatever. He is barely an average pitcher that should be making closer to the league minimum rather than $11M a year.
3--Andy Pettite--1yr/$16M--Another over the hill pitcher getting way more than he is worth. I know pitching is hard to come by, but come on.
4--Jason Schmidt--3yrs/$47M--This would be a good contract if Schmidt didn't have health issues. The Dodgers will be lucky to get 1 full good year out of all three.
5--Frank Thomas--2yrs/$18M--Thomas is like 800 years old. I know he just had a good season, but do you really think he will do it again? I predict he will get injured again and won't even be able to finish this contract.
6--Jim Edmonds--2yrs/$19M--Jim was a great ballplayer, but now he is just an above average player. Not worth the $9.5M a year he will be getting.
7--Nomar Garciaparra--2yrs/$18.5M--If he wasn't so injury-prone this might actually be a good deal for the Dodgers. Too bad he spends more time on the DL than my wife spends on the Internet (even if it is research, she is always on).
8--Barry Zito--7yrs/$126M--I think his first two years will be above average, but then his body will start to break down from all the innings he has pitched over the last few years(200+IP in each of the last 6 years).
9--Ted Lilly--4yrs/$40M--$10M a year for a .500 pitcher and an career ERA of almost 5.00. Give me a break.
10--Randy Wolf--1yr/$8M--WHAT?!? $8M for a barely average pitcher that has given up almost one HR per game pitched (157HR/194G) and has a strikeout to walk ratio of barely over 2 K's per walk (971K/437BB).
MLB owners are just plain stupid. Stupid Fuckers.
Arizona Diamondbacks--How stupid do you have to be to trade for a pitcher that makes more than the owner and is older than the entire pitching staff combined? Pretty stupid if you ask me. The Spankees must be eating their cake that they found some sucker team to take this old has-been off their hands with minimal cost to them. Randy Johnson will make $16M this year ($14M paid by Arizona and the other $2M by the Spankees). He will allow far too many runs for the less than potent Arizona offense to help him to the 15+ wins the Spankee offense helped him get. I know he is a fan favorite in Arizona, but come on, this is far too high a price tag just for that. Stupid Fuckers!
Well, that is it for this week. Hope you liked it.

The Final Bowls
Since I missed the first three bowl games (Orange, Fiesta and Rose), I felt the need to get at least the last two (Sugar and BCS Championship) previewed. I know there are a couple other bowls in between the Sugar and the BCS Championship game, but other than the teams involved who gives a fuck. Okay lets do the Sugar Bowl first.
The Sugar Bowl pits Neuter Fucking Dame against LSU. Need I tell you that I am pulling for LSU or is it pretty obvious (Fuck Neuter Dame)? Is it the fact the Brady "crybaby" Quinn can't bring his game to the games that matter or the fact that JaMarcus Russell is as big as the Neuter Dame linebackers? Both teams have high scoring offenses, but the difference lies in the defense. Neuter Dame's defense sucks and LSU's doesn't. I think that the Neuter Dame will have all kinds of trouble with the speed of the LSU offense. The Neuter Dame offense will not be able to convert enough times against the stout LSU defense to make anything matter. Neuter Dame averages 32.4 points per game, but they will be lucky to get more than 20 in this game (LSU gives up 12.5ppg). The LSU offense should be able to run and pass all over Neuter Dame's anemic defense. LSU will make whiny, over-rated, Neuter Dame cry and look like the shit team that they are. LSU wins 48-17.
The BCS Championship game is another story altogether. Both teams (Florida and Ohio State University) have explosive offenses and solid defenses. The offensive edge would go to OSU (36.3ppg, 409.8ypg, only 5 Ints) although Florida is equally explosive (28.8ppg, 398.1ypg), but interception prone (14 Ints). Offensive edge to OSU and the defenses are too even to pick. I will however give the special teams edge to Florida. The dual QB attack of Florida will have a harder time against the OSU defense than Troy Smith will have against the Florida defense. The key to this game will be production off of turnovers. Whichever team takes advantage of turnovers with points (preferably TDs) will win this game. I really want Florida to come out ahead in this game, but I think Ohio State will pull it out in the end, OSU wins 27-24.
