NFL draft day is approaching. This is the biggest day in pro football. I know some may say it is the Super Bowl, but with the quality of the games the Super Bowl has had the last 10 years or so draft day gets my nod. Here is how I think the draft should go. I am assuming no trades will be made. I am positive at least one team will make a move during the draft, but it is too unpredictable to include in this mock draft.
1. Oakland--Calvin Johnson(WR)--This is who they should pick, since he will make a bigger immediate impact than Russell. Especially if they trade Moss like the rumors are saying.
2. Detroit--JaMarcus Russell(QB)--They need a QB more than anything right now. Russell will eventually be a franchise QB and teams should never pass on a franchise QB unless they already have one.
3. Cleveland--Adrian Peterson(RB)--They need an upgrade to their running game and Peterson is better than anybody they have right now hands down!
4. Tampa Bay--Gaines Adams(DE)--Their defense is older than dinosaur shit and he is the best DE in the draft.
5. Arizona--Joe Thomas(OT)--Thomas is the best OL in the draft and the more protection they get for Leinart the better.
6. Washington--Amobi Okoye(DT)--After Adams the rest of the DE/DL are close enough. Okoye gives them a force on the D-Line for years to come.
7. Minnesota--Jamaal Anderson(DE)--Need D-Line help. Anderson is good, especially after Okoye and Adams are off the board.
8. Atlanta--LeRon Landry(S)--Best DB in the draft. Having Landry on the field with Hall would be devastating for opposing receivers and QBs.
9. Miami--Brady Quinn(QB)--If he drops this far then this would be a steal for Miami, especially since they desperately need a franchise type QB. Even though Quinn came from fucking Notre Dame, I could put that fact aside if he wins games for my 'Phins.
10. Houston--Levi Brown(OT)--This is the player they should have drafted for Carr. Now they will draft him for Schaub.
11. San Francisco--Patrick Willis(LB)--Need LB help and he is one of the top ones in the draft. Should be a good fit for this young team.
12. Buffalo--Adam Carriker(DE)--DE is a strong position in this draft. He would help them get at Brady more.
13. St. Louis--Leon Hall(CB)--They need DB help and he should be a solid player for awhile.
14. Carolina--Jon Beason(LB)--Need a LB, he fills the role.
15. Pittsburgh--Lawrence Timmons(LB)--Just who I think they will pick.
16. Green Bay--Marshawn Lynch--Desperately need to give Favre some offensive help. If they don't trade up for Peterson then Lynch is the next best.
17. Jacksonville--Reggie Nelson(S)--Need a DB.
18. Cincinnati--Darelle Revis(CB)--They need DB help.
19. Tennessee--Robert Meacham(WR)--They need WR help for Vince Young.
20. NY Giants--Jarvis Moss(DE/LB)--Strahan isn't getting younger.
21. Denver--Paul Pazluszny(LB)--With Wilson gone a new LB is in order.
22. Dallas--Ted Ginn Jr(WR)--Always a sucker for a fast WR.
23. Kansas City--Joe Staley(OT)--Solid pick for their O-Line that needs help.
24. New England--Michael Griffin(S)--Rodney Harrison isn't good for every down anymore.
25. NY Jets--Greg Olson(TE)--Would be a good fit for the 2-3 yards that Pennington can throw.
26. Philadelphia--Brandon Meriweather(S)--Need DB help and he is good if he can stay away from off-field trouble.
27. New Orleans--David Harris--Offense is set so defense is the order of the day.
28. New England--Chris Houston(CB)--Offense is solid enough and defense is getting old.
29. Baltimore--Justin Blalock(OL)--Need to give McNair more time.
30. San Diego--Dwayne Jarrett(WR)--Don't need a WR, but Jarrett will give Rivers someone other than Gates to throw to consistently.
31. Chicago--Dwayne Bowe(WR)--Desperately need to get more weapons on offense. A more consistent QB would be a better choice, but they are standing behind Grossman so.......
32. Indianapolis--Justin Harrell(DT)--Defense is where they need the most help.
Tune in later to see how close I was.
